Keyon Jones, a 6-foot-2 guard from Odessa College, announced on Thursday on his Twitter that he is headed to New Mexico State.
Jones was a sophomore for Odessa College last season and should be immediately eligible as a junior college transfer. Jones told the Sun-News he plans on being on campus when the fall semester starts on Wednesday and plans to sign next week when he gets to Las Cruces.
Jones averaged 7.7 points, 2.0 rebounds, 1.0 assists and 11.5 minutes per game last season for Odessa in 28 games. He shot 57.3 percent (82 of 143) from the floor and 45.6 percent from three (36 of 79).
NMSU head coach Chris Jans recently brought Jeff Mailhot, who was an assistant at Odessa College the past three seasons, onto his staff.
Jones is originally from Dorchester, Mass.
