Jake Carlson
Assistant Baseball Coach

Coach Carlson begins his third season as assistant baseball coach with the Odessa College Wranglers baseball program.  Primary coaching responsibilities for Coach Carlson will be working with the hitters, outfielders and also serving as recruiting coordinator.  Jake also serves as a member of the professional teaching staff within the Health and Physical Education Department at Odessa College.

Prior to Odessa College, Coach Carlson was on the baseball coaching staff at Coffeyville Community College in Coffeyville, Kansas.  During his two years at Coffeyville CC, the Red Ravens advanced to the Region VI post season baseball tournament for the first time in history of the baseball program at Coffeyville.  Coach Carlson began his coaching career at Nicholls State University in Thibodaux, Louisiana. , first as a volunteer assistant coach and later as the hitting coach at the Division I University.  In addition to his duties as hitting coach, Carlson also worked with the hitters and assisted with the outfielders and with recruiting.

A native of Manhattan, Kansas, Carlson prepped at Manhattan High School.  While at Manhattan High School Carlson was a two time all-state outfielder and was named to the national high school all-American team his senior year.  Manhattan High School won the Class 6A Kansas State High baseball Championship in Carlson’s final year of high school.  Carlson attended Butler County Community College, KS after high school, and played for B.D. Parker and current Odessa College head coach Brian Blessie while at the El Dorado, Kansas community college.  During his sophomore season at Butler County CC, Carlson was named to the Jayhawk Conference all-conference team.  After Butler County, Carlson followed Coach Parker to Nicholls State University where he participated two seasons on the baseball team and later coached at Nicholls State. 

Jake Carlson has a Bachelor of Science degree from Nicholls State University.
