Nick Toussaint- Nick Toussaint is beginning his third year at OC after transferring into OC as a red shirt freshman in the spring of 06 from McLennan Junior College. Nick is coming off a strong year where he hit .347 and had good power numbers. Look for Nick to anchor the middle of the batting order and also be able to play multiple positions. Nick is from Grapevine High School in the Dallas area. Nick is a very athletic strong player at 6’1 195 pounds.
Phil Holloway- Begins his second season for OC as a left handed pitcher. Phil was a go to guy out of the bull pen last year and eventually worked his way into the rotation the last couple of weeks of the season. Phil has an opportunity to be something special with his 6’5 210 pound frame. Phil has a mid 80’s fastball with a plus change-up and good feel for his breaking ball. Phil is from Platte City Missouri, just outside of Kansas City.
Scott Hays- Scott begins his second year at OC as a left handed pitcher. Scott was a starter last year winning 6 games. Scott has an upper 80’s fastball and has a plus breaking ball. His change-up continues to improve and he will be looked upon to be a leader for the 2007-2008 season. Scott was offered a free agent contract after his freshman year but turned it down to play at OC his last year. Scott is from Round Rock, Texas and is 5’10 175 pounds.
Trent Grondin- Trent begins his second year at OC as a short stop. Trent started all but one game last season and did extremely well, earning all-conference honors. Trent is a switch hitter with great ability from both sides. He hit .370 last season and gave us great defensive effort all the time. Trent a bit undersized at 5’7 170, plays much bigger than that. Trent will be a very important part of our program with his leadership and ability. Trent is from Round Rock, Texas.
Derek Smith- Derek begins his second year at OC. Derek played in more than half our games at second base last season. Derek has great defensive skills and looks to improve offensively his sophomore campaign. Derek was one of our leading hitters his Freshman fall, and will be a great impact player his second year. Derek is undersized but plays much bigger ( like Grondin ) at 5’7 155. Derek is from the Woodlands, Texas in Houston.
Cody Edwards- Cody begins his second season at OC. Cody came in a pitcher from Hobbs, New Mexico, but only was a position player last season. Cody will play catcher, first base and some DH. He will be looked at as hard working leader. Cody will hit for power and will be in the middle of the order. He is very strong at 6’0 200 and athletic.
Chase Larsson- Chase will begin his second season at OC. Chase was one of our leading hitters last season batting .437. Chase was a 16th round draft choice out of high school. Larsson a center fielder last year will look to anchor the outfield again in 08. Chase was also on vote away from being all-Region, however he was a first team all-conference selection. A very good athlete a 6’3 200 pounds looks to be a big time div. 1 player or sign a pro contract after his second junior college season. Chase is from Vancouver, BC.
Collin Loftin- Collin begins his second season at OC. Collin was one of the first guys out the pen last year. HE is a big 6’4 200 lb left handed pitcher. Collin should play a very important role his sophomore season. Loftin has a great change-up that he throws in any counts. Collin will look to increase velocity on fastball and should continue to develop into great college pitcher. Collin is from Rowlett, TX out side of Dallas
Mike Carlson- Mike begins his second year at OC but first as a player, as he red shirted last season. Mike a big physical right handed pitcher has the ability to dominate with his fastball and slider. Mike will look to earn an important job this season. Mike is 6’4 215lbs and is from Palmer, Alaska.
Hunter Lankford- Hunter begins his second season at OC. Hunter was used last year as our closer and down the stretch became the first guy out of the pen. Hunter has good life on the fastball and a plus breaking ball. He stands 5’11 200 lbs and looks to be a favorite for a big time role this year. Hunter is from Rowlett, TX.
Robbie Ray- Robbie Begins his second season at OC. Robbie played some outfield last year and was also used as a pinch runner. Robbie has great athleticism and plays very good defense. Look for Robbie too challenge all the outfielders this year for a better role. Robbie is from the Woodlands, TX out side of Houston. Ray is 5’9 170 Lbs.
Brandon Fierro- Brandon begins his second season at OC. Brandon was a transfer from Texas Tech last year and proved to be on of the better talents on the mound last year in the conference last year as a left handed pitcher. He has an upper 80’s fast ball a command of a curve ball and change up. Brandon is from Odessa, TX and is 5’10 170 lbs.
Justin Pike- Justin begins his second season at OC. Justin red shirted last year to develop as a pitcher. Justin has a good arm and a lot of potential. Look for Justin to make a name for himself this year. Justin is from Wichita Falls, TX and is 6’1 170 lbs.
Ronnie Hall- Ronnie begins his first year at OC. Ronnie is a big physical right handed pitcher out of Lubbock, TX. Ronnie will look to be an important part of the pitching staff this year as a freshman. He is 6’4 220 lbs and has a mid 80’s fastball and needs to learn how to command his off speed pitches.
Brody Pool- Brody begins his first year at OC. Brody a multi talented player from Lubbock, TX will be used in many roles this year. As a pitcher he has a mid to upper 80’s fastball and a curve ball and change up. Brody also has the ability to be a very good Junior College catcher. Look for Brody to make some noise this year in several opportunities he will be given. Brody is 6’0 200 lbs.
Tyler O’Neal- Tyler begins his first year at OC. Tyler is a left handed hitting outfielder and catcher. He looks to find a spot this year and will challenge at both spots. Tyler has great ability with his bat so look for him to find a way on the field. Tyler is 6’2 200 lbs and is from Brownsville, TX
Casey Zamora- Casey begins his first year at OC. Tyler comes to us as a right handed pitcher who has some ability to hit. He will definitely contend for a major role on the mound as a right handed pitcher, but don’t be surprised with his challenges as a hitter. Casey is 6’1 200 lbs and comes from Seguin, TX
Matt Maytubby- Matt begins his first year at OC. Matt will compete in the outfield from day one; he has great ability in all aspects of the game. As a hitter he possesses the ability to be a very productive hitter, especially when he adds 10 to 15 pounds and his 6’1 175 frame. Matt comes to us from Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Luke Scott- Luke begins his first year at OC. Luke will come in and play a big role whether he is on the mound or playing first or third base. Luke has potentially all the tools needed to be a big time player. Luke is 6’1 210 lbs and can throw, run, hit, and play great defense. Luke is from Round Rock, TX
Jordan Castaldo- Jordan begins his first year at OC. Jordan will help replace some of the hitters we lost last year, as a left handed hitting infielder, look for Jordan to find his way in the line up this year regularly. Jordan is 6’1 190 lbs and come to us from Toronto, Canada.
Stephen Greenwood- Stephen begins his first year at OC. Stephen comes in with great ability as a right handed pitcher. Stephen’s ability should find him pitching very often for us this year. He has a mid to upper 80’s fastball and a plethora of off speed pitches. Stephen is from Garland, TX and is 6’1 185 lbs.
Preston Springer- Preston begins his first year at OC. Preston will come in and challenge for time on the mound as right handed pitcher and also as a third baseman and first base man. He has a great arm on the mound and also has great power at the plate hitting. He will play a very important role for us this year. Preston is 6’2 200 lbs and is from Denton, TX
Bobby Tatum- Bobby begins hi s first year at OC. Bobby has great tools and will come in and challenge to be an every day player in the out field. Bobby has great speed and strength that will definitely be pivotal for our team. Bobby is 6’0 195 lbs and come to us from Pine Bluff, AR
Zach Wagner- Zach begins his first year at OC. Zach will look to find time in the outfield and also on the mound as a right handed pitcher. Zach has a very good arm and possesses many other qualities that will find him a very big role for us this year. Zach is from Missouri City, TX and is 6’3 190 lbs.
Matt Peterson- Matt begins his first year at OC. Matt will come in and look to earn the starting catcher’s spot this year as the job is wide open. Matt has great ability to develop into a fine catcher. His receiving skills are very good and will look to improve on throwing. Matt is 6’2 170 lbs and is from Sugarland, TX
Duke Dykeman- Duke begins his first year at OC. Duke looks to come in a find a role as a starting right handed pitcher this year. He has an upper 80’s fastball and good off speed pitches. Look for good things from Duke this year. Duke is only 510 165lbs, and comes to us from Sugarland,TX
Mike Robles- Mike begins his second season at OC. Mike did not get many innings his first season, but look for that to change this year. Mike has great work ethic and has the mentality needed to be a great pitcher at his level. Mike will be an important piece to the puzzle this year. Mike is from Odessa,TX and is 5’11 175 lbs.
aniel Flores- Daniel begins his second year at OC. Daniel looks to win a stating job this year as his experience will be very important. Daniel has great ability to hit and will look to improve on his defensive skills this year. Daniel is from Odessa, TX and is 5’10 170 lbs. |
