PLAYERS

Brody Pool – SO RHP Lubbock, TX- Brody is coming off a great year on the mound as a freshman where he earned many innings.  Though he may not have had the win totals we wanted last year, he had very good numbers.  Look for Brody to make a huge impact his SO campaign.

Duke Dykeman – SO RHP Missouri City, TX  – Duke was one of our most winning pitchers last season and we look for the same this year.  Duke battled through some injuries last year and that kept him from a few starts that might have kept him from ten wins.  Look for Duke to also make a huge impact his SO campaign.

Ronny Hall – SO RHP Lubbock, TX – Ronny was used mostly out of the bullpen last year and was one of the key pitchers in the games we won last year.  His big frame and big arm will be relied on heavily again this year.

Jermaine Barksdale – SO LHP Carlsbad, NM – Jermaine came on very strong towards the last part of the year, his command and ability to throw strikes improved greatly.  Look for Jermaine to start faster this year and be one of the toughest lefties in the conference, with his tremendous breaking ball and increasing fastball.

Kevin Ginorio – SO RHP Puerto Rico – Kevin is coming off a year where he did not see a lot of innings, but with a year of experience and maturity under his belt, look for Kevin to have a different role his sophomore campaign.

Julio Torres – SO LHP Puerto Rico – Julio is coming back from a year that saw him win eight games, his continued development has many people intrigued with him and his 6’5 left handed frame.  With increased velocity and a sharper breaking ball to go along with his great change up, Julio should be a pro player. Look for great things from him in 09.

Cord Jezek – FR RHP Denton, TX – Cord, arguably one of the best pitchers in the Dallas Metroplex last spring will be a great addition to the pitching staff at OC. Cord will compete right away for a spot in the rotation, look for Cord to do great things in 09 and at OC.

Patrick Escobar – FR RHP Fort Worth, TX – Patrick, a very strong armed pitcher will also make a huge impact as a freshman, he has great arm strength and the ability to be a dominate pitcher at OC. With a year of developing, Patrick will do great things.

Joel Odell – FR RHP Fort Worth, TX – A teammate of Escobar in high school, has the same ability but with a taller frame.  Joel will compete for many innings as a  freshman with his hard throwing ability and breaking ball.  With some more improvements on secondary pitches, Joel will be a dominating force.

Patrick Brosh – FR RHP Houston, TX – Patrick is a very competitive pitcher, his ability to throw stikes and keep hitters off balance is his greatest asset. With some increase from his already good 85-86 mph fastball, he will also be a dominating force.

Christian Borquez – FR LHP Puerto Rico – Christian will come in and add depth to our left handed pitchers. He is a lot like Torres in size and will be a very important piece to the puzzle in 09, we look and expect great things from Christian.

Mason Mngia – FR RHP Odessa, TX – Mason, who was a great athlete for Odessa High has decided to transfer from Tartleton St. We are very excites to have him join our program. Mason who will add great depth out of our bullpen with his low sidearm delivery will also add a much different look to hitters.  Look for Mason to develop into a very good 1 or two inning stopper.

Anthony Gilliland – SO LHP Midland, TX – Anthony, another transfer, comes to us from UTPB.  We are very excited for Anthony to join us and add more depth to our pitching staff and also adding another left handed arm.  Anthony will continue to develop and increase velocity, his big frame also will be a very good advantage for him.

Roger Vazquez – SO C Puerto Rico – Roger one of our returning catchers from last season has made great stides in becoming a more complete player.  We are excited to have him another year. His ability to hit from both sides of the ball, along with being a good defensive catcher, will be a great attribute for 09.  Look for Roger to be a more improved hitter and do great things.

Matt Darr – SO C Clear Water, FL – Matt another returning catcher from last season will make a great impact.  Matt has the ability to hit for power and be a well rounded catcher and he will give us a different look from that of Roger.  Matt, after a year of maturing is ready to compete at very high level.

Carlos Hernandez – SO C/1B Puerto Rico – Carlos has the ability to play several positions, but will most likely be on the filed for his ability to hit.  The potential he has is awesome, and we look for him to make a huge impact in 09.

Preston Springer – SO 3B/1B Denton, TX – Preston, the leading hitter from last years team returns and will be one of the best hitters in the league in 09.  Already with pro scouts and major division 1 schools on him, he will do great things for OC.  Preston will hit in the middle of our lineup every day and will be look up to by all of his teammates.

Dustin Riley – SO 1B Denton, TX – Dustin returns from last years team, which saw him do some good things.  He is a very good defensive player, and when he learns to be a more consistent hitter he will make a huge impact in 09.  His big frame and ability is already there.

Eric Hignojos – SO INF Odessa, TX – Eric returns from last season which saw him earn a starting spot, as freshman he really developed into a good player.  With another year to come, we hope to see the same stides and good things out of him.

Chris Winder – FR INF Craig, CO – Chris will come in and compete to play short stop right away, his athletic ability is one of the best on the team and will be a great asset to our program. With the middle of the field gone from last year, there is a spot for him to grab early.

Derek Brooks – FR INF Houston, TX – Derek also will come in and compete to play shortstop right away as a freshman.  He has the tools to become a great player at OC and we expect him to be on the field in 09.

Ross McCormick – FR OF/INF Blanco, TX – Ross a very athletic strong player will bring much to OC.  He has great tools that when developed will be awesome.  We expect great things from Ross and expect to him to compete for a spot on the field.

Jaime Reingold – FR OF/INF Houston, TX – Jaime a transfer from the U.T will bring much quality depth to the field this year.  More of a utility player, look for Jaime to challenge many for a spot on the field.

Cutter Foreman – SO 1B Lubbock, TX – Cutter a transfer from Wayland Baptist is a strong hitter with ability to hit in our league.  Cutter will be an asset to our program with his ability to challenge our other 1B.

Zach Wagner – SO OF Houston, TX – Zach, a returning starter from last season saw his 08 season finish in a great way, we look for him to anchor our outfield and be a team leader.  He has great potential as a player and expect great things out of him.

Ryan Arney – FR OF Akron, OH – Ryan a freshman coming from the northeast will see the benefits of Texas baseball right away.  As a cold weather player coming south, he will see what type of player he will become by being outside all year.  With the outfield being wide open, look for Ryan to come in a compete for a spot.

Travis Barker – SO OF Lubbock, TX – Travis returns from last season which saw him gain a starting spot the last quarter of the season.  Travis has great instincts to play the game and will compete again for a spot in 09.

Juan Santini – SO OF/INF Puerto Rico – Juan a transfer from Manatee College in Florida will come in and compete for a spot in the outfield.  He has great ability to run and with improved hitting has the ability to be a great player in our league.

Brent Leslie – FR OF Lubbock, TX – Brent will come in with great knowledge of the game and ability to be a good hitter at OC.  His size continues to grow and we are excited to work and develop him.  His older brother Logan played here in 06 and Brent has the same potential if not better. Logan is now at Texas Tech.  Look for great things from Brent.

Bubba Roddy – FR UT Denton, TX Bubba will bring a lot of versatility to our program in 09.  He has the ability to play many positions and will be a threat as a hitter.  He will find out what kind of player he can be here at OC.

Matt Peterson – RFR C Missouri City, TX- Matt coming off knee surgery missed last season.  Matt learned a lot about the game watching last year and is itching to get on the field in 09.  He brings depth to the catching position, however his athleticism may find him challenging at other spots on the field.
