Tra Arnold
Head Basketball Coach

Tra Arnold enters his third year as the head coach of the Odessa College Wrangler men’s basketball program.

In the past two years under Arnold the men’s basketball program has compiled an overall record of 47-15. With five players being selected to the Western Junior College Athletic Association (WJCAC) All Conference team and one player WJCAC MVP. Four of the players were selected All Region V and one player was selected as 2013-2014 NJCAA All- American. In the last two years Arnold has had ten players sign with NCAA Division 1 Universities.

Before Odessa, Coach Arnold held the same position at Blinn College for three years.  In just 3 seasons at Blinn College, Coach Arnold built a Region contender setting the school record for most wins achieved in a season and leading Blinn College to the school’s first ever Region Championship game.   Arnold has recruited and coached numerous All-Region and All-Conference players, and has had an NJCAA All-American award winner in each of the past 3 seasons. 

A native of Houston, Arnold is a graduate of Clear Creek High School where he played for Coach Buddy Carlisle. He then played for the College of Southern Idaho, which was ranked as the No. 1 junior college program in 2000-2001. He later played at Biola University in La Mirada, California under Dave Holmquist.

Coach Arnold received an associate in arts degree from College of Southern Idaho in 2002. He then earned his bachelor’s in kinesiology from Biola University in 2005, and his master’s in physical education from Prairie View A&M University in 2009.

Coach Arnold and his wife, Jodi, reside in Odessa, and they have two sons together, Tavin and Carson.
