The Odessa College rodeo team traveled to Weatherford, Texas last weekend, for the first event of the 2010 spring term.   Weatherford College hosted the twelve team, Southwest Region rodeo event, which is the first of five spring events that qualifies athletes for the college finals rodeo in June.
Bull Riding was a highlight event for the Odessa College team at the Weatherford rodeo, taking the top two positions in the event.  Ty Pozzobon finished first with a two round total of 151 points, while Randy Quartieri finished in second position with a two round total of 146.  Katelyn Lide competed in multiple events, finishing seventh in goat tying and fifth in breakaway roping. 

After six rodeos, including five in the fall, Odessa College currently is positioned in seventh place in the men’s team standings and sixth place in the women’s team standings.   Dustin Bowen is currently in fifth place in the bareback riding standings with teammates JD Sessions in eleventh and Clay Anthony in fourteenth.   In the bull riding, Randy Quartieri sits in fourth place, with Ty Pozzobon in seventh and Daniel Dictson in tenth.   Seth Mahaffey is currently in sixth place in tie down roping.  Kody Porterfield comes in at thirteenth place in the team roping header, with Seth Hall in second in team roping heeler.  Cody Gatlin is in ninth and Chad Engle fourteenth in team roping heeler.  Katelyn Lide is positioned in fourth place in breakaway roping and eleventh place in goat tying, with teammate Chelsea Brown in thirteenth place in breakaway roping.
