SEASON HIGHLIGHTS
We finished 4th in the BR, 7th in the BB and 7th in the SB.

SEASON OUTLOOK

We have three women and eight men returning from last year.  This should be a positive factor and make it easier to select a men’s and women’s team for each of the ten rodeos.  We compete against over 400 contestants from 16 colleges and universities at each of our ten contests throughout the year.

It is my responsibility to select 4 women and 6 men to make up the teams for OC at each rodeo.  Our returning athletes know what they are capable of and what it takes to win.  Our freshmen consist of athletes from high school state champions to walk-ons who are trying hard to improve.

What our athletes have won in the past is history; how hard they are willing to work and want to win is still in the future.  If our student-athletes dedicate themselves to hard work in the classroom and in the arenas, we will have men and women representing OC at the College National Finals.

uccess usually requires sacrifice and not all athletes are willing to put as much into their sports as it takes to be winners at this level.  It is my goal to instill in my student-athletes that they will only get out of life what they are willing to put into it.

PLAYERS

Ashley Brown – FR – Ashley is a dual purpose student-athlete.  She is a past Permian Panther cheerleader and a present OC Wrangler Cheerleader.  She is also a past High Plains and THSRA State qualifier in her rodeo events.  Ashley is 100% hustle and I expect her to be a lettermen her freshman year in the goat tying event.

Dana Johnson – SO – Dana can tie goats and is ready to win.  She was the Colorado State Champion and 10th in the Nation.

Cinnamon Johnston – SO – A sophomore who was heart broken to not qualify for the CNFR.  She is as tough as they come and broke her collar bone at the 2nd rodeo.  She has roped at every rodeo with the injury.  She will come back strong in the spring in goat tying.  She is a 4 time regional champion in goat tying and 2 time regional champ in break-away roping from South Dakota.

Rikki Jones – FR – Rikki was the Region II Texas State High School AA Champ and 2006 barrel racing champ.  She works hard and will not give up until she wins.

April Loyd – FR – Works hard and will be a winner.

Dani McGuire – FR – Dani was in the top 10 in the state and the Region II reserve all-around champ for 2006.  She is a great student and a great roper.  She will win one this year and be a letterman.

Caitlyn McLaughlin – FR – She is the 2006 THSRA Region II Champ in break away roping and has a 1st place win in the roping at OC.  She will letter this semester.

Morgan McMillan – FR – Morgan is a barrel racer and break away roper.  She was the 2007 AJRA Champion barrel racer and has already earned points as an OC Wrangler.  She will be a winner for OC.

Toni Sands – SO – Toni is a sophomore barrel racer who just missed the short go at two of the 1st two rodeos.  She will keep getting better and faster.

Maria Thornton – FR – This young lady is small but mighty.  She works hard and her 2007 all-around state champ title proves it.  She also qualified for nationals in high school all four years.  She will be a winner at OC before the year is out and will really be tough next year.

Kyla Yarborough – FR

Jeff Alder – FR – 2-time National qualifier in BR for Arizona and a really good team roper.  Jeff will make a great OC Wrangler and be a winner.

Cory Baudoin – SO – This guy is a bareback bronc rider who lettered his freshman year and has placed at all three rodeos this fall.  He just keeps getting better.  Cory is the #3 man on the roster with 85 points.

Bonner Bolton – SO – An awesome young man.  He is as humble as they come and is a winner in life.  You will hear about Bonner in the PBR and CBR telecasts for a long time to come.  He is a champion.

Scotty Cox – SO – Scotty is always working at the practices and rodeos.  He loves working the bulls as much as he loves riding them.  He is a stock contractor’s right hand man and a great contributor to the team.  He is 2-time TJBRA Champ and a 3.0 student.

Jason Cundiff – FR – “Fuzz” is a team roping header from Virginia who loves roping and going to school in Texas.  He is a #11 champ in the Eastern Region.

Daniel Dictson – FR – NM State qualifier to Nationals and 5th in the Nation in 2006.  Daniel tries hard and will letter before the year is over.  He already has 20 points.

Josh Glover – FR – Josh is a guy who decided he wanted to ride bulls after graduation.  He is trying hard learning as he goes.

Colter Harden – SO - #1 on the OC roster (300 points) – this guy didn’t place at the 1st rodeo this year but he won 1st at the 2nd and 2nd at the 3rd to move into the #2 spot in the Region for the OC Wranglers.  Colter is a sophomore who lettered his freshman year and has his goal set for the CNFR.  I know he can accomplish his goal and be a major team player as a bareback rider and a team roper.  He really heels well and likes to win.

Klay Harris – SO - #4 for OC with 70 points – this guy is a sophomore and a great steer wrestler as well.  Klay lettered his freshman year and is roping with Colter Harden.  They make a great team and will make points for the Wranglers.  Klay is a Reserve State Champ and 2-time National Qualifier.

Mando Honne – FR – Mando was the 2005 High Plains Champ heeler and the 2006 THSRA Region II Champion heeler.  He is going to grab two feet at one of these rodeos soon and win a bunch in the team roping.  He partners with Chad McNerlin.

Will Johnson – FR – Will is a very talented tie-down roper.  He is the team state champ calf roper and steer wrestler.  He has already made 50 points and I look for him to earn a letter jacket at the next rodeo.  Will is 8th on the roster and working hard for the top six team points.

Stetson Lewis – FR – This guy is a great young bull rider.  He has already earned 60 points and will win a rodeo before the year is out.  I think this guy has his sights set on the CNFR and will accomplish his goals.  He was the TJBRA Champ in 2005 & 2006.

Aaron Lide – SO – This is little big man and he just lettered at the last rodeo.  Aaron is the #2 man on the team sheet with 140 points.  He rides broncs, ropes calves, team ropes and will ride bulls.  He just recovered from a broken leg and was released by the doctor one week before our 1st rodeo.

Austin McDougald – FR – This guy is a 2-time state champ and 4-time national qualifier.  He is loaded with talent and will come alive soon.  He will figure out how to put it together.

Chad McNerlin – FR – He is a freshman and a state qualifier in calf roping and team roping.  Chad has added the SW and working hard to earn some points.  He and Mando TR together and will win one soon.

Jeremy Mouton – SO – This guy lettered his freshman year and finished 7th in the region.  He is a real cowboy and should qualify for the CNFR.  If these guys all get it together, they could win a team spot to the CNFR.  Jeremy is also a great student and had a 4.0 last year.

Kody Porterfield – FR – This guy ropes calves, TR and SW.  He is a hard worker who helps everyone on the team.  Kody is a state qualifier in all of his events and won the state and national cutting championship.

Randy Quartieri – FR – He was the reserve champ for New Mexico in 2007 and qualified for Nationals his jr and sr year.  He plans on winning the Southwest Region and going to the CNFR.

Derk Robinson – FR – Derk was a 3-time state champ in SB for Washington and 2006 champion BR as well.  He was 8th in the Nation in SB at the 2007 WHSR Finals in Springfield, IL.  Derk is the #6 man on the team sheet this week with 65 points.

Jake Wendt – FR – State champion BR for Illinois and 2-time national qualifier.  Jake is working hard on being in shape and riding the good ones and the bad ones.  He is finding out he really can ride.

Austin Wahlert – FR – Austin has been overcoming a hand injury and learning to deal with the problem.  He is ready to earn some points.  Austin is a great student and will be a real asset in helping put on our rodeo.  He is well experienced in the marketing end of rodeo.  He was also a 4-time state qualifier in the bull riding for Colorado.

Carson Yates – FR – Very good student-athlete who was the reserve champion calf roper for Alabama and national qualifier.  He also qualified for the USCRA world finish in team roping.

Kyle Park – FR – 3-time state qualifier in TR, 2-time national qualifier, reserve team roping champ, 2-time state bull fighter and a great bull fighter for the OC rodeo team in practice.
