Jennifer Sutherland

Jennifer Sutherland is beginning her first season as the assistant softball coach for Odessa College. She will be working with the pitchers and will be assisting Coach Prickett with recruiting.
Sutherland earned her bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science from Abilene Christian University. Her previous coaching stint was at Madison Academy in Madison, Alabama. Sutherland was the Head Softball Coach and taught P.E. at Madison Academy.
Sutherland (Leal) played softball at Abilene Christian University in 2005 and 2006. Sutherland won 49 games during her two year stint as a pitcher at Abilene Christian University. Sutherland was named Lone Star Conference Pitcher of the Year in 2006. Sutherland also earned All-Lone Star Conference, Lone Star Conference All-Tournament, and NFCA All-South Central Region honors as a senior. Sutherland holds the ACU record for Earned Run Average in a season at ACU. In 2006 she had an impressive 1.64 ERA. Sutherland also holds the ACU single game record for strikeouts with an amazing 16 strikeouts vs. New Mexico Highlands (12 Feb. 2006).
Coach Sutherland grew up in Missouri City, Texas and attended Elkins High School. Sutherland is married to former OC basketball player Matt Sutherland. The Sutherland’s have a daughter, Izabella (17 months). |
