Joel Prickett is beginning his fourth year as the Head Softball Coach of Odessa College. Coach Prickett came in as the third coach in OC softball history and in three seasons he and his teams own almost every record in the history of the program, including career wins (137), post-season wins (13), and post-season appearances (3). He owns Odessa College softball’s only WJCAC title (2006), two Region V West championships, and two national tournament appearances (2005 & 2006).
In his 3 seasons at Odessa College, he has sent 21 athletes to 4-year universities to play softball, including 7 to Division I universities. In his 3 seasons as the head coach at El Paso Community College, Coach Prickett sent 19 players to 4-year universities including 5 Division I athletes.
In demanding excellence in the classroom as well as on the field, Coach Prickett’s overall team GPA in his six years as head coach is a 3.01 with multiple graduates over that same time span and countless others receiving their degree from 4-year institutions. It is something that he is very proud of and will continue to strive for excellence in that area.
Coach Prickett is responsible for organizing a weekly bible study with various athletes on campus and is in the process of establishing a Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) huddle group on campus. He is a graduate of Tarleton State University in Stephenville, TX where he received a Bachelors of Science degree in exercise and sports studies.
He is the son of the late Bob and Beth Prickett and proud uncle to 9 nieces and nephews and one great-nephew. |
