The Odessa College softball team faced their
first games of the fall this last weekend. They
opened the weekend by playing 2 games against
Lubbock Christian on Friday. The Lady Wranglers
dominated both games winning 17-1 and 9-5. Freshman
Megan Bell led the way for the Lady Wranglers
going 6-7(.857) with 7 RBI on the night. Those
RBI’s wouldn’t have been possible
without sophomore Whitney Kuhrt having 2 doubles
and 3 singles, going 5-7 on the night. Katelyn
Stanley, Destani Linamen, Nicole Blair, and Caitlyn
Crain came together to dominate the circle for
both games. In all 14 innings of play,
our pitching staff only allowed 8 total hits. Freshman
Caitlyn Crain stood out in the close of the second
game, going 3 1/3 innings with 7 strikeouts and
0 hits.
On day 2 of play, the Lady Wranglers traveled to
Albuquerque, New Mexico to take on the University
of New Mexico Lobos, where they fell short 4-0 and
3-2. In game 1, sophomore Whitney Kuhrt started
off with a single in the 1st but was never hit in.
The entire game went much like that. There
were a total of 5 hits for the Wranglers. The
second game was much more competitive. Freshman
Caitlyn Crain dominated the circle for 5 innings
of play with 8 strikeouts and 2 hits. In the 4th
inning sophomore Sarah Martinez led off with a hit
by pitch, and Katelyn Stanley followed up with a
single. With 2 runners on and 2 outs Freshman
Caitlyn Crain delivered a double scoring both runs. The
Lady Lobos answered back that same inning with a
triple to score their 3 runs of the game. |
