SEASON OUTLOOK

The outlook is very high for the Wranglers this year. Coming off a great ending to the 2009 season, the 7 returning sophomores are looking to build on their legacy. With the combination of our sophomores, who bring leadership and experience, and our very talented freshmen we are expecting greatness from this group. We are working for the same kind of results that last years team had.

RETURNERS
Erin Gilliland Robert E. Lee High School Midland, Texas
Erin is a catcher from Midland Lee high school.  Her leadership behind the plate will be very important for us this year.  She is a great receiver, and is a good gap to gap hitter.  Erin is one of the hardest workers on the team and I a great leader for us on and off the field.  Erin is the most coachable player we have and we cant wait to see what the season has in store for her.

Whitney Kuhrt Robert E. Lee High School Midland, Texas
“Whit” is another one of our steals from Midland Lee high school. Whitney is fast, experienced, and talented.  Whitney is a very consistent player for us possessing both great speed and a very good arm for us in center field.  She is a slapper with a lot of experience and has a great feel for the game.  Whit is a player that gives it her all, all of the time and is a great leader for us.

Katelyn Stanley North Mason High School Tahuya, Washington
“Katy” arrives here all the way from Washington.  She was the pitcher that got the team to the national tournament last year and that will be great experience for us this year.  Katelyn is a very calm and confident presence on the mound. She is a very solid pitcher and a very good 1st baseman. We are expecting great things in Katy this year.

Sarah Martinez Sandia High School Albuquerque, NM
Sarah is a transfer from New Mexico State University. She is a middle infielder by trade and we look for her leadership at 2nd base this year. Sarah has great hands and smarts for the game.  Sarah will be a big left handed hitter for us in the line up.  Her passion for the game and constant chatter on the field will be great for the entire team.

Khiana Carter Northside High School Fort Worth, Texas
“Khi” is the only returning player this year to be named to the All-Region team. She is fast, raw, and athletic. She should be in left field for us but if she continues to develop like she has been, she could end up an All-American. She is a slapper with incredible speed, who we look to steal lots of bases for us. Having a strong voice for us in the outfield will be great to keep the team going in games.

Taylor Miley Farmington High School Farmington, New Mexico
Taylor is a hard working 1st baseman with a contagious laugh.  She has a great positive attitude that the girls tend to feed off of. With her experience she should be a great leader for us. She is a great gap-to-gap hitter with the potential to hit the long ball.

Tela Lovingshimer Santa Fe High School Edmond, Oklahoma
From the plains of Oklahoma, Tela brings a strong glove, powerful bat and knowledge of the game to the Wranglers. She can play every infield positions and play them well.  Tela is the player that is never satisfied with where she is at, and has a great drive to become better.  She should be a great asset for us this year.

TRANSFERS
Angilia Smith Curtis Senior High School Tacoma, Washington
“Ang” transfers to us from Pierce College where she led her team in batting average(.522) and made 1st Team NWAACC All-Star team. She has the potential to be one of our best and most powerful hitters this year.  She is vey coachable and is making great strides.  She will compete for the short stop position. We are looking for great things from Ang.

FRESHMEN
Caitlyn Crain Saginaw High School Saginaw, Texas
Caitlyn has the potential to be one of the best pitchers this program has seen in a long time.  She will be a big strike out pitcher for us who also has the potential to hit the long ball. With the combination of her and Katy in the circle the Lady Wranglers should go far this season.

Megan Bell Saginaw High School Saginaw, Texas
Megan has a lot of potential as a hitter. She should get some time as a designated hitter for us because she has a lot of power.  She hit the only homerun for us in the fall, and we are trying to help her with becoming more consistent. Megan could be great for us.

Destani Linamen Temple Christian High School Fort, Worth Texas

Destani comes to us having a great high school career. She is a player that could play many positions for us but we are looking for her to compete for playing time at 2nd.  She has a bubbly and positive attitude that could be contagious to the team.

Kristy Smith Odessa High School Odessa, Texas
Kristy is a local girl with incredible talent.  She will play a huge role in our teams success this year. Kristy can play just about anywhere on the field but we will look for her to play 3rd base for us.  She is a left handed hitter that comes in with an already great swing.  She is the player you love to coach because she has the incredible work ethic to go along with great talent. The sky is the limit for Kristy.

Holly Vanden Bossche Murrieta Valley High School Murrieta, California
Holly comes to us already having a good bat. She is a great presence for us at the plate and will compete for time as the designated hitter. She has a great eye for the ball and will be a great gap-to-gap hitter for us.  This fall Holly has spent her time at 3rd base and will compete for playing time their and possibly in the outfield.

Chelsey Edior Westchester High School Los Angeles, California
“Chels” has a lot of raw talent and potential.  She has good speed and will most likely see time in the outfield for us.  Chelsey came to us as a right handed hitter, and has been moved to the left side to slap for us.  She doesn’t have the experience yet, but she has the drive to be great.

Claren Hurlbut Farmington High School Farmington, New Mexico
Claren comes in with incredible speed which will be a great addition with sophomores Whitney Kuhrt and Khiana Carter.  She will compete for time in the outfield, but has experience in the infield as well. Claren is a speedy slapper that could be great for us to steal a lot of bases.
