College
Career: Kevin started his college
career with Odessa College. Kevin was a long
jumper for the Wrangler Track team. In his first
year with Odessa, Kevin, place fourth in the JUCO
indoor long jump and fifth in the JUCO outdoor. His
best jump, as a freshman, was 25-1.75. In his sophomore
season, Kevin, placed second in both the JUCO indoor
and outdoor meet. Having his best jump of 25-4.5.
After two seasons with Odessa, he transferred to
Abilene Christian. In his first season at Abilene
he won the NCAA DII indoor and placed fourth in the
DII outdoor. In his senior season at Abilene, Kevin,
place second in both the NCAA DII indoor and outdoor
meets.
Pro
Career: After his successful college
career, Kevin went on to the pros. So far his professional
career has had many achievements. Just after three
years in college Kevin became the U.S. Outdoor champion
with a jump of 26-7.75, and seventh at the World
Championship. Two years later he placed sixth at
the World Indoor Championship.
Fun
Facts: Kevin started out in middle
school as a sprinter, when his coach asked him to
try long jumping and pulled off a jump of a little
more than 20 feet. From that moment on Kevin fell
in love with long jumping. Kevin sings with a group
called “Deliverance” at his church and
is also a youth minister.
