Wranglers open WJCAC Basketball Play vs. New Mexico
The Wrangler Women's and Men's Basketball teams open Western Junior College Athletic Conference play tomorrow night as they host New Mexico Junior College at the OC Sports Center.
The women's game will tip-off at 5:45pm and the men's game will follow at around 7:30pm.
In the women's game, Odessa enters the game with a 2-4 record overall and New Mexico is 10-1. The Thunderbirds are currently ranked #5 in the country in the latest NJCAA Division 1 Women's Basketball poll.
The Wrangler women are averaging 61 points per game and are led by Jessie Dai and Lala Niankan who are both averaging 12 points per game. Taya Davis leads the team in assists with 4 a game.
The men's game will feature the 8-5 Wranglers and the 7-4 Thunderbirds. NMJC is ranked #21 in the latest NJCAA D1 Men's Basketball poll this week.
Daniss Jenkins leads Odessa in scoring averaging close to 16 points per game while Daniel Rivera leads the Wranglers in rebounding averaging 5.5 per game.
Tomorrow nights game will be the final home game of 2021 as the Christmas Break approaches.
Wednesday's game will be an OC All-In Event for Odessa College Employees.
Student-Services will be giving away cold hard cash during both half-times to students in attendance who can answer Christmas Trivia questions.
