The Wrangler Baseball team split their opening weekend series with Wharton County on Sunday.
Odessa lost 9-8 in 10 innings in Game 1. Tyler Wade took the loss for the Wranglers. Offensively, Chase Diggins, Nathan Van Mannen, Liam MacDonald and Daniel Monti all collected two hits in the game.
The Wranglers picked up a 3-2 victory in Game 2. Will Hellings picked up his first victory of the year on the mound throwing 5 and 1/3 innings in relief and Julius Carpio recorded his first save of the season. Hellings and Carpio combined to throw 8 and 1/3 innings allowing only 5 hits and no runs. At the plate, Nathan Van Mannen continued his hot streak recording three hits, Brandon Rincones picked up a pair of hits in Game 2.
Odessa will hit the road for the second consecutive weekend as they travel to Ranger College on Friday the 11th and McLennan Community College on Saturday the 12th. Those games are scheduled for a double header.
