Men's Basketball Headed Back to Hutch
For the second consecutive season, the Odessa College Men's Basketball team is headed to the NJCAA D1 Basketball Championship in Hutchinson, KS.
On Sunday, the Wranglers (27-6) received an at-large bid, punching their ticket to the tournament. Odessa will be the #8 seed and will get a first-round bye in the field of 24 teams. Their first game of the tournament will be on Tuesday, March 15th at 4:30pm against the winner of the #9 seed Shelton State (AL) and the #24 seed Roane State (TN).
This will be the third time in four years that the Wranglers have made the trip to Hutchinson under Head Coach Kris Baumann. In the previous two trips OC has fallen to the eventual National Champions, Coffeyville in 2021 and Vincennes in 2019.
Odessa will look to continue their impressive 2021-22 season that saw the Wranglers go 27-6 overall and win the Western Junior College Athletic Conference regular season championship going a perfect 16-0 in conference play. Their 16-0 WJCAC record was the first in school history.
The 2022 NJCAA D1 Men's Basketball Championship runs from Monday, March 14th through Saturday, March 19th in Hutchinson, KS at the Hutch Sports Arena. The entire tournament will be live-streamed on the NJCAA Network at: https://www.njcaa.org/network/landing/index
