Tom Kelly took over the reins as Head Coach of the Odessa College Wrangler Rodeo Team in September 2018.
Coach Kelly comes to OC after four years as Laramie County Community College Agriculture/Equine Facilities Manager and Assistant Rodeo Coach. In addition, Tom and his wife, Carrie, have raised and coached four very successful rodeo athletes that have many championships in their resume within the high school, college, amateur and professional rodeo arenas.
Kelly’s coaching philosophy is to help grow champions both in and out of the arena. Rodeo has the ability to grow strong competitors and leaders in the arena, but, most importantly in life and the students’ communities as they transition into adulthood.
Coach Kelly graduated from Western Dakota Technical Institute in 1998 with an associate’s degree in Equine Science. He and Carrie have five children – Tracie, Taylor, Trenton, Timber and Tate; along with daughter-in-law, Jessica and two up and coming cowboys – Orrin and Jasper.
