Gordon and Kiplagat Win Individual Titles, Wrangler Men Place 8th at NJCAA D1 Outdoor Championships
The Odessa College Men's Track team placed eighth at the NJCAA D1 Men's Outdoor Championships last weekend in Hobbs, NM.
Individually, the Wrangler men brought home two national championships in the 5000m run and the 110m hurdles.
Justus Kiplagat won the 5000m as he ran away from the field in the last 300m to a time of 14:53.62.
In the Men's 110m hurdles, Shaquane Gordon won with a time of 13.04 seconds. His 13.04 mark is the fastest 110m hurdle by an NJCAA athlete, which broke the National, Stadium, and Meet Records.
Other top performers included; Nick Estrada who finished third in the pole vault with a height of 15ft 9.25" and Barrain Smith finished thrid with a time of 51.23 in the 400m hurdles.
Odessa closes out the second year of the return of Outdoor Track and Field, the Wranglers will continue to build the roster and expand into more events in the 2026-27 competition seasons.
