Women's Golf Wins Southwest District Tournament
The Wrangler women's golf team punched their ticket to the 2025 NJCAA D1 Women's Golf Championship winning the Southwest District Tournament.
Odessa shot +18 to win the event by four strokes over New Mexico Junior College (+22). Heavy rainfall and storms on Wednesday shorten the tournament to 36 holes.
After finding themselves two shots back of the lead in the first round, Odessa shot +3 in round two take a four-shot lead. The second-round score of +3 was the lowest round shot in the tournament by any of the seven schools in attendance.
Individually, all five women placed in the top 12. Ausanee "View" Udkanmtiang won the event at 1 under par (-1). She was the only player to shoot under par at the tournament. Napajira "Nami" Luesattha placed second at +3, Isabelle Badger and Nadia Ouezzani tied for ninth at +9 and Chloe De Verner finished 12th at +11.
This was the second consecutive year that the Wranglers have won the Southwest District Title.
Odessa will now shift their focus to the National Tournament played at Buffalo Dunes Golf Course in Garden City, KS May 12th through the 15th.
